Congratulations - you received a voucher for belly dance classes. Now what?
1) Receive Voucher
Wait for your voucher or gift certificate to be emailed to you. Your voucher will have an expiration date, which means you have typically six months to trade it in for a course, so no rush.
Note: You must be a women (16+) to take classes with us.
2) What class is best for me?
Technique or Choreography? Workout or Combinations?
All classes at the beginner level are designed for first timers in that you first learn basic moves. Most of our classes are organized as six-week courses, i.e. the Tuesday 7-8pm class will meet for six consecutive Tuesdays starting on the respective start date.
Type A) Six week courses:
In a choreography course, you only learn the moves for that particular dance in weeks 1-3, which are put together in weeks 4-6 to form a simple dance.
A technique course teaches you all the beginner level moves, but no dance.
Combination courses are typically themed (i.e. slow vs. fast, folk dance vs. cabaret, etc.) and teach moves and combinations of moves like a Technique 1 class, but emphasize dance/workout over technique.
Type B) Pay-as-you-go Belly Dance Workout Classes:
We also offer Workout classes, which drill basic moves. However, since they are pay-as-you-go, they can not progress, so the emphasis is on working out. You can use your voucher to trade it for a 6-session punchcard and use it for any pay-as-you-go classes. This works greast for students with irregular work schedules. Bring a friend along - we simply punch two holes etc.
You can only join a six-week course during weeks 1 and 2. See the Studio & Events
Calendar for upcoming start dates.
5) Print out Voucher
Bring a printout of your Voucher with you to the 1st class. No printer? We need at least your voucher number, so write it down and bring it with you.
6) Print out Registration Form
Fill out the registration form, and bring it to the 1st class with you. If PDF doesn't work, use MAC
No printer?
We have forms at the studio.
7) Keep me posted on what is happening
8) What should I bring, wear,...
Now check out the frequent questions
for information on what to wear, where to purchase supplies, and all the other common questions we frequently get.
Note for the first day: You will not get a confirmation that we received your payment. Instead, we contact you if there is a problem. You just sign in on the first day of class wearing loose workout clothes with socks or ballet slippers (available for purchase) if you have them. Barefoot is fine too.
